April marks the 241st anniversary of Paul Revere's Midnight Ride and the beginning of the American Revolution. Commemorative events will be held at the Paul Revere House, Old North Church, and other sites along the Freedom Trail. Check out the Foundation's calendar for a full listing of these exciting events and programs! New Freedom Trail Players will be out on the Trail this spring, stay tuned to the Foundation's Facebook page for their photos and biographies in the coming weeks.
Old North Foundation's Annual Lantern Ceremony

On April 18, 1775, two lanterns were hung from the steeple of the Old North Church, launching what would become the Revolutionary War. Signaling the departure of British regulars "by sea," the two lanterns have come to represent the resolve and ingenuity of the American spirit. Old North Foundation celebrates the 241st Anniversary Lantern Ceremony on Sunday, April 17 with keynote speaker Governor Charlie Baker and National Park Service Rangers as honorary lantern carriers. Every year since 1875, on the eve of Patriot's Day, Old North Church has commemorated the hanging of the lanterns by inviting guests to join prominent members of the community to the exciting event. Fittingly, Boston National Historical Park Rangers will serve as honorary lantern carriers as 2016 marks the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service.
