Readers ask Claude - how to make practicing fun

Ever pretend you're a robot just for fun?

I do.

I'm weird.

Beep beep.

No, that's not the way to make practicing fun -- i'll get to that in a minute, but
Claudebot has 3 things to tell ya.

First, I'm releasing a new movie called "Breaking Ballz"... It's a parody/spoof
on the famous Breaking Bad Series.  It's no doubt our best movie yet.

You'll get to see part 1 on Tuesday. I'm also gearing up to release the Ultimate
Guitar Secrets Collection 2016 DVD, which will be FREE for all the email
subscribers (that's you!)

While supplies last of course.

Second thing..beep beep.. While you're waiting for that epicness, here's a nice
little lesson of the day to keep you entertained.

Ever wanted to play the Highway to Hell Solo by AC/DC?

Well guess what, that's what you're about to discover.

LESSON OF THE DAY

And now I want to answer an "Ask Claude" question.  Ok time to get out of
robot mode into human mode...

Question from a reader:

"My question is, my practices have come somewhat routine and I cannot seem
to make my practices interesting (and yes, fun). Do you have any suggestions?
I'm practing a lot of exercises and scales.  I have trouble playing songs".

And this is my reply:

It sounds like you're playing a lot of scales, which can be cool, but as you are
probably experiencing, it can get stale and boring.  You probably know the
scales pretty well already.  I would focus on less patterns and try to build them
up to speed faster with the metronome.

Also, you can try adding new licks , for example... here's an awesome course
we have called Wicked Chicken Pickin Chops that will no doubt inspire
you and help you take your lead playing in a lot of new directions. The scale
chops are great to have, but you have to put your chops into good use.

Check this out: WICKED CHICKEN PICKIN CHOPS

You also mentioned songs... I think its really important to keep playing songs
while you're working on lead guitar. They will improve your rhythm and also
when people want to hear you play guitar, they want to hear a song, not some
scale exercise :)  So, its always great to know lots of songs.  So you should
work on that too, and it will make your practicing more fun overall.

I try to make songs as easy as possible with step by step instructions and simple
chord charts inside my Ultimate Guitar Song Collection.  It's a great resource...
It'll save you lots of time.
