Thousands of LGBTQ people and rights advocates took to the streets of New York to speak out against President Donald Trump's Muslim travel ban and other "illegal, immoral, unconstitutional and un-American" executive orders.  The joke's on conservatives who love Lady Gaga for "not getting political" at the Super Bowl. The pop diva steered clear of overt Trump references in her dazzling halftime show, earning praise from Marco Rubio, Ivanka Trump and televangelist Pat Robertson. But to those who looked (and listened) carefully, the Mother Monster was sending a very savvy, pro-LGBTQ message. Does Trump's Supreme Court nominee want to ban gay sex? Neil Gorsuch has been presented as mild-mannered, but that doesn’t mean the conservative appeals judge wouldn’t deny your very existence under the Constitution if you happen to be queer.   Acts of Hate Mike Huckabee's transphobic, Trump-inspired "joke" was an EPIC misfire.  Take Action Contact your local representative by chatting with our Facebook Messenger bot here.   Acts of Love   Kristen Stewart responds to Trump by calling herself "so gay." The "Twilight" actress, who has never been secretive about her relationships with other women, publicly used the word "gay" in reference to herself for the first time as part of a memorable "Saturday Night Live" monologue. Her comments were in response to a series of tweets Trump once sent about her relationship with Robert Pattinson.  An 81-year-old man rapped -- yes, rapped -- his support for his city's LGBTQ community. Former school superintendent Donald Tassie received thunderous applause from Michigan residents when he showed off some surprising MC chops while backing a citywide ordinance that prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. "Transparent" creator Jill Soloway made a powerful point about gender identity in a rousing MAKERS conference speech.
