Dear Friend, Merry Christmas to you and your family! Ray and I wish you and your family a blessed day with those close to you. We would like to wish a Happy Hanukkah to all celebrating this week and we hope you have a joyful time this season. Last week the House voted to keep our government open and provide essential support for Missouri farmers. Our farmers have been hit hard recently, and it is incumbent upon us to provide them stability as they grow our nation’s food. We also prioritized disaster aid to support the victims of the recent hurricanes as they rebuild the family homes and businesses they tragically lost. This funding bill is a tailored piece of legislation that is really going to help people and I was proud to join President Trump in supporting it. The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri has had a temporary judgeship for decades, and this judgeship was set to expire in 2025. It is only right to finally convert it to permanent status and provide a measure of certainty to our region. I was pleased to champion bipartisan legislation that did just that and lead this effort to convert numerous temporary judgeships around the country, including in our very own Eastern District of Missouri, to permanent status. Caseloads at District Courts have continued to rise, and it would not serve the cause of justice to allow these judgeships to expire and further burden the system. This legislation will ensure our Eastern District of Missouri Court can better protect our communities and ensure criminals are brought to justice in a timely manner. Read my full release here. The Senate just passed my bipartisan legislation to protect U.S. citizens from violence directed by foreign powers. It is critical we prevent future attacks on our nation and deter foreign influence operations within our borders, and the DETERRENCE Act will increase the sentences of any criminal who commits violent crimes at the direction of a foreign government. We must stand strong against dictatorships who seek to harm our nation. Read more on my bill here. I have passed legislation in the House to uphold the Dayton Accords, the agreement that ended the horrific civil war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and sanction bad actors who seek to undermine the country’s peace, security, and unity. The Administration is implementing my legislation by sanctioning seven people and entities who were supporting secessionist politician Milorad Dodik and his widespread corruption. Read more on my legislation here. Sincerely, Ann Wagner Member of Congress |
