Christine Vaeth: On Her Own

Christine joined the Missouri Work Assistance (MWA) program in July of 2023. She and her daughter were living with her parents and had no transportation, but she had goals of living on her own. She looked for employment close to her parent's house, and was hired at a location, where she was able to walk to and from work and save up money.

Christine received supportive services including first month's rent and deposit for an apartment close to her place of employment, so transportation was no longer a barrier. With the help and support of the MWA program, Christine is now living a self-sufficient life in her own apartment with her daughter, and states that she is happier now then she has been in a while.

Her service specialists with MWA gave her support, patience, and kept in contact with her often to help get her on her feet again. She wants others to know, "…people don't need to be scared to ask for help, or scared to be judged."
