Democratic governors like myself are working hard every day to fight back against Trump and his administration's power grabs – like his threats to withhold federal funds from states in order to force us to comply with his personal demands. Gov. Tony Evers in Wisconsin is working to lower prescription drug prices and protect Wisconsinites from price gouging. Gov. Laura Kelly in Kansas is working to expand Medicaid and fully fund public schools. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in Michigan signed 16 bills to expand reproductive freedom and make contraception more affordable. Gov. Katie Hobbs in Arizona is working to forgive billions of dollars worth of medical debt for up to a million Arizonans. We are doing everything we can to stand up for our constituents and take action to defend our progress, protect our freedoms, and move our states forward. However, with 38 governors’ races on the ballot this November and in 2026, including key battleground states like Virginia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Georgia, our firewall of Democratic governors is in jeopardy.
