ASIAN TSUNAMI REMEMBERED
On December 26, 2009 we remember that it was 5 years ago since the devastating Asian tsunami killed 230,000 people in 12 Indian Ocean nations - one of the deadliest natural disasters in recorded history.

The Tsunami Remembered-jewelry was originally designed by ingridSwedish jewelry designer Linda Gudmundsson. Tragically, Linda herself died in the tsunami outside Khao Lak, Thailand together with her baby daughter, Mira and father, Göran. Linda's designer jewelry continues to be manufactured by her mother, Ingrid and sister, Anna and is sold for profit with the sole purpose to help support 600 tsunami orphans at the Ban Bangsak School in Khao Lak. Approx. 80% of the retail price of the jewelry goes directly to tsunami-related charities

The jewelry is popular in Sweden and the charity has regular showcases to present new designs. Most popular is the Big Red Heart Handmade Ceramic Stoneware Pin, pinwhich was the start of their charitable work and is still the best-seller, the Big Red Heart Handmade Ceramic Ornament, which is ideal for placing on photo frames of loved ones – this office must have at least 10 of them placed on picture frames of parents, friends, relatives, and even pets – and can also be used as table decorations or place card holders for special occasions, and the Big Red Heart Pendant Beaded Necklace which is their most popular jewelry gift item. Please note that many of the jewelry pieces are available in numerous different colors, and that this is chosen from a drop-down menu below the picture on the item page itself.

Most of the jewelry features hearts in many shapes and sizes, and is perfect as gifts for loved ones on birthdays or at Christmas. frame ornamentMother's Day or Valentine's Day. The stylized heart symbol is used as a worldwide sign for love and affection, and is typically colored red suggesting passion or strong emotion. As such, it continues to be used as a symbolic spiritual, emotional, moral, and intellectual image of the core of a human being both in mythology and religion, and sometimes even as the poetic home of the human soul.

As Ingrid goes to Thailand to directly distribute all profits from the sales of the jewelry from late December to late March, it is essential that you order these items before December 1 in order to have delivery for the Holidays – and also for Valentine's Day!

If you would like to visit the charity's Swedish web site (there is an English explanation page), please go to Indahjälpen by following the highlighted link.

NEW MASTERPIECES OF ART ISSUES
The very popular series entitled "Masterpieces of Art" poetcontinues in late September with Carl Spitzweg`s masterpiece Poor Poet and in late November with Raphael’s legendary Sistine Madonna .

The series features silver coins dedicated to famous works-of-art that are masterfully recreated in full color. The 3 ounce coins measure more than 2 inches in diameter so the detail is clearly visible. madonnaAbove and below the artwork are genuine Swarovski crystals inlaid into the coin's surface. The obverse is common to the entire series and shows an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Each coin is presented in an elegant jewel case with certificate of authenticity confirming the very limited mintage corresponding to each painting's year of creation.

Based on the fact that the first two issues – namely the Last Supper and the Birth of Venus supper- in the highly popular series of 3 ounce silver proof coins with swarovski crystals, featuring beautifully pad-printed renditions of the masterpeieces of classic art, sold out before all interested collector's could acquire them, RSM is now also offering the first two coins in BU quality so that interested parties can complete their series up to this point. Rest assured that the quality of the pad printing, packaging and crystal inserts are the same - the only difference is the quality finish of the silver itself.

Please note that RSM receives only small allotments of these beautiful pieces. Shipping is FREE by Express Mail worldwide, but there is a non-refundable $50 deposit per coin that applies at order. Most items are now ready for delivery, and we are also taking orders by email

The previously announced euro adoption dates for Lithuania (2010) and Estonia (2011) might be in jeopardy. Both countries – along with Latvia – are struggling with inflation well above the 4.2% EMU upper limit, and it has been indicated that 2013 might be a more fitting adoption schedule for all three of these countries.

» 2011: Estonia
» 2012: Bulgaria
» 2013: Lithuania, Latvia, Poland
» 2014: Romania, Hungary
» 2015: Czech Republic
