CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (Nov. 30, 2013) — The annual US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (US Youth Soccer ODP) Boys Thanksgiving Interregional is now underway at Grande Sports World in Casa Grande, Ariz. The three-day event kicked off Saturday and features boys from the 1999 and 2000 age groups.

Continuing its tradition of elite competition and player development, youth from the nation's top player identification program, US Youth Soccer ODP, will train and compete in front of national staff and collegiate coaches to maximize their exposure for selection to the next level of play. The 2013 US Youth Soccer ODP Boys Thanksgiving Interregional includes players in the 2017-2019 graduation classes.

US Youth Soccer ODP is the nation's original player identification program. With programs in all 55 US Youth Soccer State Associations, it is available to any player, regardless of hometown or club affiliation. US Youth Soccer ODP has continued its tradition of elite competition and player development for more than 30 years, and is the only development program that can claim members of Major League Soccer, the National Women's Soccer League, and a majority of current and past national and youth national team members as alumni. Highlights from today's matches:

2000 Boys: Region I v. Region III

Bardia Kimiavi got off to a very quick start to help his Region I side jump out to an early two-goal lead against Region III in a 2000 Boys matchup. Kimiavi struck with a third-minute goal, and he found the back of the net a second time just a minute later to put Region I up, 2-0. The Region III defense settled down after the initial pressure, but Region I made it 3-0 in the 38th minute behind a Justus Boyhen goal. James Brighton scored a second-half goal for Region III, but the Region I squad controlled the majority of the match and came away with a 3-1 victory.

2000 Boys: Region II v. Region IV

Behind a strong defensive performance, Region IV came away with a 2-0 win over Region II in 2000 Boys play. Michael Lund opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when he scored off of a corner kick to put Region IV in front. Region IV's Bailey Zico doubled the lead in the 49th minute to give his side an insurance goal. The Region IV defense made sure those two goals were enough, as they held on for the 2-0 shutout win.

1999 Boys: Region I v. Region III

Region I overcame an early deficit to defeat Region III, 2-1, in 1999 Boys action. Region III jumped out in front when Aldo Quevedo found the back of the net in the 12th minute. However, Region I responded three minutes later with a Diego Guerrero goal to level the score. The first-half scoring continued when Edison Giron gave Region I the lead with a tally in the 28th minute. Both defenses shut down the opposition for the rest of the contest, as Region I came away with the narrow win.

1999 Boys: Region II v. Region IV

Both sides had their chances but couldn't capitalize in a tight game between Region IV and Region II. The two 1999 Boys squads each displayed solid defensive play to come away with clean sheets, as the contest ended in a scoreless tie. Region IV and Region II will each look to get their offenses going on Sunday when the interregional continues.
