It's Griff here again with a quick and easy practicing tip.
As you probably know by now most of the videos I've sent you are from my Blues Guitar Unleashed DVD course
http://bluesguitarunleashed.com/bluesguitar.php.
But I was answering an email that reminded me of something I went through several years back.
The person who wrote the email was asking me if I had any suggestions for some discomfort he was feeling in his left arm, hand, and even into the left side of his neck when he practiced.
It reminded me that I went through the same thing many years ago when I was in college and playing for several hours each day.
But the cure is so simple, you might never think of it.
Simply get yourself some sort of footrest that gets your foot (the one holding the guitar) up off the ground by about 6-10 inches.
In the process of doing that, you take the stress of holding the guitar away from your left hand and may help substantially with any pain or discomfort you might be feeling there.
And there you have it. Something I've done for years and just don't think about it anymore. I almost never practice without one and haven't in years. And the footrest I use now I got for $2 at Ikea of all places... works great.
Good luck, I'll talk to you soon...
