» This week: The popularity of the series of French issues called "From Clovis to Republic" has been a very positive surprise. The three currently available issues have all been re-ordered a number of times and are difficult to keep in stock! These issues are Clovis, Charlemagne , and Charles the Bald. » This week: The recently available issue in the popular series called Masterpieces of Arts (Ars Vaticana), which consists of 3 ounce Swarovski crystal insert silver coins with beautiful pad color printing of classical art masterpieces, features German painter Franz Marc's "Blue Horse" (1911). Most of Marc's mature work portrays animals, usually in natural settings. In 1936 and 1937, the Nazis condemned Marc as a degenerate artist and ordered that approximately 130 of his works be withheld from exhibit in German museums. "The Blue Horse" is on permanent exhibit at Stadtische Galerie in Lenbachhaus, Munich. The next installment in the series will be issued in early December.
» This week: The Bank of Latvia has released its next 1 lats collector coin's, this time dedicated to 800th anniversary of minting coins in Riga and the 800th anniversary of Riga Cathedral. The new proof coins each has a mintage limit of 5,000 pieces.
» This week: In mid-September, Mint of Finland released a silver commemorative coin honoring Juhani Aho & Finnish Literature. Aho was the first professional Finnish writer, and his was a window into everyday life and the landscape of Finland.
» This week: The fourth issue in the series Windows of Heaven is scheduled for release in late November or early December, and will feature a stained glass window insert from Seville Cathedral . It is the largest Gothic cathedral and the third-largest cathedral overall in the world after London’s St Paul’s and Rome’s St. Peter’s cathedrals. Seville Cathedral has 75 stained glass windows and also serves as the burial site of Christopher Columbus.
» This week: On October 10, the second issue in the series featuring "Animals of Irish Coinage" will be released, featuring The Salmon from the 1928 florin.
» Earlier: This year, the German central bank announced that its remaining 2011 uncirculated €10 coins will be minted in cupronickel instead of silver, starting with the second issue. The first of these base metal coins will be released in early October, the second in early November, and the last three in December.
