Robo Taco
Domo arigato, Señor Roboto
607 SE Morrison; Southeast; 503.232.3707

Robots can do just about anything: They build our cars, explore alien worlds, and if you hit them with a bolt of lightning they're awesome at helping Ally Sheedy through her animal-hoarding phase. Using the power of autonomous mechanics to give you something you'll want at least 5 of: Robo Taco.

Just opened on SE Morrison, Robo's the soft-shelled brainchild of some Mex-loving dudes with fine-dining chops, who've popped out a low-key joint with a '70s vibe, striking bright-tiled bar, and robot art that references the rotating, gyro-type broiler that puts the Robo in the name, which awesomely and unintentionally translates in Spanish to "I steal taco", also the catchphrase of the post-NAFTA Hamburglar. The epic deliciousness is built on a base of citrus/ Old World spice-marinated al pastor: a sliced pork shoulder skewered and cooked to crispy perfection on said broiler, which can rotate 45lbs of meat as it's basted by drippings from a pineapple on top and melting layers of fat at 1 RPM, or the redline on a Ford Fiesta. You can also taco-up meats like chopped whole roasted chicken and tongue simmered in aromatic spices, or go burrito with carnitas roasted for six hours with orange and cinnamon, before being cooled and refried, or asada they claim tastes like "a million little steaks in your mouth", and's made from top sirloin, which just happens to be Val Kilmer's favorite sexual position.

Robo's also offering huevos rancheros all day long, tortas with breaded pork that riff on a schnitzel-wich, and homemade rellenos with queso fresco, all of which'll eventually be paired with a full bar offering margaritas, enough of which could make you forget your pal Johnny. Wait...Who Is. Johnny?!?

Swing by their Facebook page to keep up to date on their late-night hours, and stupendous meat specials
