Dallas Modern Home Tour
Holy balls, people actually live in these places
Give your aspiration artificial respiration by taking the first-ever Dallas Modern Home Tour on the 28th, when you'll be able to walk right into houses curated by a former managing editor of Architectural Record, aka, Kind of Blueprints. Each stop was picked for its combination of technical innovation and artistic beauty, including:

4311 Middleton: Constructed from recycled materials, stone, and sustainable wood, this clear candidate for a backyard keg party features geothermal climate control and native xeriscaping, which, unlike Brazilian xeriscaping, doesn't involve the eco-conscious removal of all the grass.

8627 Midway: A floating staircase separates the guest rooms, media den, and upstairs fireplaced patio from the rest of the domicile, which also boasts a 250-bottle refrigerated wine room and a "walk-in spa-inspired shower". So yes, you'll now be hosing off next to a Swedish man with hands that know exactly where your tension resides.

9839 Rockbrook: The "Stretto House" was completed in '91 after the owners saw the architect's Museum of Modern Art exhibit and hired him to build on this twin-ponded property. The long gravel drive lets guests first seeing the residence have an "a-ha moment" -- you know, when you're trapped inside a Norwegian house so modern, it's made of pencil sketches.

The tour's self-guided, so there'll be no waiting around for dawdlers. Your ticket and a preview of each home is just on the other side of this click.
