Hello Kitty Wants To Predict Your Future

Posted: 02 Apr 2012 03:42 AM PDT

Because nothing says “super natural”  and “occult” like Hello Kitty. From what I hear they’re fairly accurate, but only after you spill the blood of a virgin unicorn on them first, otherwise the cards are just nonsense.

Oh Hello Kitty, is there anything that you won’t put your name on?

Greetings From Prince Harry

Posted: 02 Apr 2012 02:29 AM PDT

When you hear the name Prince Harry, you might be tempted to think of Princess Di’s youngest son, but why bother wasting your time with the royal family when you could look at these adorable pictures of a pygmy hippo bearing the same name? Unfortunately, little Harry’s mother didn’t feel the same:

The mother and calf were closely monitored, and after 5 hours of no feeding, the decision was made to pull the calf from its mom in the hopes of his survival. Harry was immediately weighed, wrapped in blankets and transported to the hand-rearing facility where he was fed. He is being hand-reared by very loving curator and caretaker, Toni Inggs.

Both Harry and his mother in fine health and Prince Harry seems to be doing just fine on his own.

Easter Lamb Meatloaf

Posted: 02 Apr 2012 12:01 AM PDT

Aww, just look at that fluffy little lamb. Don’t you just want to slice its head open and start munching down? Or maybe you’re just not that into meatloaf. I don’t know about you guys, but I’d love to make this my new Easter tradition…as long as I still get to eat 20 deviled eggs with it that is.

Hand Painted Super Sonic Sneakers

Posted: 01 Apr 2012 11:00 PM PDT

Sure these hand-painted shoes by Reddit user lumpyheadedbunny look great, but for $350 per pair, I’d hope they actually give you Sonic’s super speed. To be fair though, each pair takes between 45 and 60 hours to complete, so they’re a bargain when you consider the man hours required to make them.

So You’re Paragliding One Day, You Look Up, and See This

Posted: 01 Apr 2012 03:20 PM PDT

The website of the United States Powered Paragliding Association describes what could have happened if the carabiner had slipped just a little more:

This pilot was quite close to a catastrophic situation on two fronts. One, a significant bump that unloaded that riser could have caused the riser to come completely out, leaving the pilot spiraling uncontrollably down on the remaining side. Two, the carabiner has dramatically less strength and a strong updraft could break it.

Here’s my question: was this picture taken during or after the flight? If during, then, sir, the people of the Internet thank you for thinking of us first.

Car Horns for the Demanding Standards of Mumbai Drivers

Posted: 01 Apr 2012 02:17 PM PDT

If you’re going to drive in Mumbai, you’ll have to be tough. And you’ll have to drive a car that will endure the challenges of that city’s roads and traffic. Mumbai drivers, apparently, honk their horns a lot. Enough that standard car horns on European cars aren’t up the job.

That’s why German carmaker Audi has drastically raised its standards for car horns built for export to India. Audi representative Michael Perschke explained:

"You take a European horn and it will be gone in a week or two. With the amount of honking in Mumbai, we do on a daily basis what an average German does annually."

Perschke said the horns are specially adapted for driving conditions in India, a booming market where Audi is one of many foreign car brands competing for increasingly wealthy customers.

"The horn is tested differently – with two continuous weeks of only honking, the setting of the horn is different, with different suppliers," he said.

Can anyone who has been to Mumbai confirm what this article says about the use of car horns in that city?

A Message from Your Feline Overlords

Posted: 01 Apr 2012 02:01 PM PDT

The cats have won! DeviantART has been conquered! And this is the guy behind the revolt:

I am `MajorGeneralWhiskers. My hobbies include sleeping on your face, making claw-graffiti on leather couches, and seeing how far I can kick litter outside the box. I lead the Feline UpRising, also known as FUR. We’re an army of expert cat hackers and script kitties who have been working tirelessly to take over deviantART. We even reduced our sleep schedules to a scant 17 hours per day, and it’s all paid off. Now that we’ve seized control, we’ll be making a few changes to make things more to our liking.

What do they want? Well, for starters, they want a lot more cat-related art on the site. Maybe you can help. Link -via Buzzfeed

6 Times The Onion Had People Completely Fooled

Posted: 01 Apr 2012 08:32 AM PDT

The Onion, as most of you know, is a satirical news site that publishes fictional news stories that hits uncomfortably close to home. Every once in a while, some news outlet unknowingly uses it as a source, with major embarrassment to follow. Once the story hits a legitimate news site, it spreads like wildfire before its fictional roots catch up with it. Hundreds of people couldn’t wait to tell all their Facebook friends about this one:

Possibly the greatest article confusion was over Planned Parenthood's alleged $8 billion "Abortionplex." The article included such gems as a banner reading "No Life is Sacred" and quotes from PP's president:

"The Abortionplex's high-tech machinery is capable of terminating one pregnancy every three seconds…That's almost a million abortions every month. We're so thrilled!"

The article went viral, in part because of how many people thought it was real. It was this article that led to the creation of Literally Unbelievable. So if you read the article in May of 2011 during the debate over the funding of Planned Parenthood, and you weren't familiar with The Onion, it might be a tiny bit understandable if you got confused.

And it doesn’t have to be April Fools Day -you always have to look out for a possible Onion source. Link
