Read on for some very cool tips!

PLEASE NOTE: The following examples are based on the use of
the Scorch plug-in which currently works only on Windows Desktop
computers. If you use a Mac or a mobile device such as an iPad,
iPhone or Android based devices, I am very sorry to say that Scorch
is currently NOT compatible (despite a new version of the plug-in for
Mac is planned to come out in a few weeks.) But, you may still find the
information below about MP3 accompaniment files to be useful, and
you can always appreciate the super-high-quality of our PDF
sheet music files that are compatible with any computer and device
on planet earth!

Tips for using Scorch to transpose music for any other instrument
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With the online feature "Scorch," you can easily transpose music into any key
and literally rewrite the music for any other instrument. This exciting feature
can be applied to ANY item in our repertoire that includes Scorch files,
not just to the new Patriotic Collections we listed above!
Here is an example using the Patriotic Collection for violin and piano...
let's say you want to make it for Clarinet in Bb and piano.
Well, just start from the violin and piano version page:
http://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/score/PatrioticVlPf.html
then click the Sheet Music tab at the top, and then the smaller Scorch tab you
will find underneath; or click the link below to display Scorch files directly
that will allow you to transpose the music:
http://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/score/PatrioticVlPf.html?tab=scorch
Once there, let's pick the first title, "America The Beautiful". Once the
music is displayed inside your browser, click the "trumpet" icon inside
the Scorch window to choose another instrument. In the case of our example,
choose the Clarinet in Bb and click OK. As you will notice, the violin part
changes into "Clarinet in Bb" and the music will be transposed accordingly.
Keep in mind though that such an instrument change feature works only with
the top instrument line on the score. If you have a string quartet full score
and want to change the viola line (3rd instrument from the top) into a third
violin, that's not actually possible.
But not to worry! Despite not being able to change all the instruments inside
a full score, you can always change the single parts instead. In the case of the
collection for violin and piano, you can find violin single part Scorch files
right after the piano part section on the Scorch main page:
http://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/score/PatrioticVlPf.html?tab=scorch
And in the same way, you can find single part Scorch files for the string
quartet collection at the link below:
http://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/score/PatrioticSQuartetALL.html?tab=scorch
The possibilities are endless!
Another cool feature is transposition. In fact, you can also transpose an entire
music into a different key. For example, if you see that the music is too high,
too low, or has too many accidentals to be played well on your instrument, just
click the two flats icon inside Scorch (between the previous trumpet icon and
the printer icon) to transpose the music as you like.
Scorch can also be used for training purposes. You can play the music by
following it on your screen, change the tempo to play along, and to learn the
piece step by step. Also useful for this purpose are Mp3 accompaniment files,
available for most of the pieces that involve more instruments (see more about
Mp3 accompaniment files below…)
Last tip about Scorch: You can find titles that include Scorch files by just
typing "scorch" in the search field you find at the top of any page on Virtual
Sheet Music:
http://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/
And of course you can combine the keyword "scorch" with other keywords.
For example, to show all the "Ave Maria" pieces that include Scorch files,
just type:
"ave maria scorch"
to display all items for the Ave Maria that include Scorch files.
Some word about Mp3 accompaniment files:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

In the case of the violin and piano collection, Mp3 accompaniment files can be
found inside the Mp3 tab, right after the regular Mp3 files:

http://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/score/PatrioticVlPf.html?tab=mp3

They are offered in 2 speeds, with or without metronome, for studying purposes.
Musicians find them very useful, largely because they are simple Mp3 audio files
that can easily be downloaded to your iPod/iPhone or other portable
Mp3 player for studying on the go!

If you are wondering how many other titles include Mp3 accompaniment files,
here is a useful list for you:

What else can I Say!I have no doubt you will find all these tools extremely
useful for learning and performing well. Please feel free to pass along this
newsletter to your friends and fellow musicians who might be interested in
these exciting collections and features!

Enjoy your weekend, and enjoy the great music!
