Anticipation builds for Facebook autoplay ads
Facebook is quietly testing autoplay video ads in some users' news feeds to monitor engagement as well as annoyance, building up anticipation among marketers eager to embrace the format that's scheduled to debut early next year. "Any time there is a new ad product on a platform the size of Facebook, you would be shortsighted not to want to lean in. Facebook will have no problem selling these ads," said Alexandra Shapiro, a USA Network executive. Adweek (11/4)

Twitter ups the ante ahead of its IPO
Twitter has increased the share-price range for its initial public offering, which could give the company a total valuation of about $13.6 billion. The change reflects increased interest in Twitter's shares, says analyst Santosh Rao. "This number is still a reasonable and doable valuation, and I don't think it's going to turn people off," he said. Bloomberg (11/4)

Fake Yelp reviews threaten honest business, researcher says
Fake online reviews generate trouble not only for consumers but also for businesses, which are sometimes the victim of competitors that post negative reviews to dissuade potential customers, Boston University assistant professor Georgios Zervas says. A study co-authored by Zervas says about 16% of Yelp reviews are fake. "As more consumers are basing their decisions on crowdsourced reviews, there's a greater incentive for businesses to cheat," Zervas said. BU Today (Boston University) (11/4)
