Presenter: AnnElise Parkhurst, PhD Participants will learn about the nature of interpersonal learning, the dynamics of group structure and about group interventions. The stages of group development, associated intervention strategies and selection factors related to group functioning will also be addressed. Pending the structure of the audience, experiential exercises may be integrated into the presentation to enhance participant understanding.
At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to: - Identify the stages of group development;
- Describe the behaviors associated with each stage of group development;
- Discuss the interpersonal dynamics that characterize group function, e.g., norm formation, cohesion, leadership issues, etc.;
- Select group interventions related to specific group stages;
- Identify selection factors associated with effective group membership; and
- Explain diversity issues that may impact the operation of the group.
