Tearing Down I-345 Is Not as Crazy as It Sounds BY JIM SCHUTZE

Tearing Down I-345 Is Not a... The idea is to blow up, tear down, erase, make go away an entire elevated freeway at the eastern end of downtown Dallas. Chechen rebels couldn't do better than that. But the region's most powerful transportation planning official recently shrugged and dismissed the scheme to tear down I-345, the elevated freeway span separating Deep Ellum and downtown, as "the do-nothing option." There is music, but it's not too loud, a mix of horns and happy feelings gently pouring from the outdoor speakers. And there are fried tortilla chips, ... more >>

Jarmusch's Undead Know How to Live BY STEPHANIE ZACHAREK

Jarmuschs Undead Know How t... The vampires who walk among us — and they do — are not the Twilight kind, or the True Blood kind, or even the Buffy kind. In the world of Jim Jarmusch's Only Lovers Left Alive, the director's most emotionally direct film since Dead Man, and maybe his finest, period, vampires are people who prefer to own their music in some tangible form rather than entrust it to some unseen librarian ... more >>

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, Alive and Tickling at Fun House Theatre BY ELAINE LINER

Rosencrantz and Guildenster... There's a functional way to drag a corpse off a stage and there's a funny way. The young actors in Fun House Theatre and Film's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead do it the funny way. Every time. Fun House, for theatergoers who haven't yet discovered its extraordinary shows, is Jeff Swearingen and Bren Rapp's all-youth company in Plano. In a bare-bones space at the back of a strip center off ... more >>
