Sailing the High Seas, A Pirate Newsletter by Medieval Collectibles

Scrollwork Newsletter Header
It is a big ocean out there, and sailing across it are all manner of pirates, rogues, and swashbucklers. The question is, what kind of pirate do you want to be? Do you want to be the realistic one, worn and dirty and ruthless? Or do you prefer the romantic notion, of a well-dressed rogue with a swift sword and a sauve demeanor? Or maybe you would rather look the part of a privateer - a naval officer who sails as a pirate for his country? Whatever you chose, be you male or female, Medieval Collectibles has a fine selection of pirate gear, ranging from clothing to accessories to decor, all so that you can not only look like a pirate, but also decorate like one too. So don't be putting up with any nautical nonsense this year when it comes to your pirate style!

Sincerely,
Medieval Collectibles

Fun Pirate Fact:

John Rackham was better known as "Calico Jack". He is most remembered for two reasons: A, his Jolly Roger flag, which featured a skull and two crossed swords; and B, two members of his crew were Mary Read and Anne Bonny, two of the most famous female pirates.

Fun Pirate Fact:

Did you know that one of the reasons why a tricorn was so popular among pirates and sailors was its shape? The design allowed the tricorn to help funnel off rain and sea-spray, keeping it away from the sailors face.

Historical Note:

Gun-blades, or in this case, axe-pistols, were not common weapons, and were mostly used for hunting or by riders on horseback. That being said, if a pirate got his hands on one that worked... Well, it certainly is perfect for adding some fun and flare to almost any pirate look!

Pirate Fun Fact:

While not an inherently "pirate" coin, the piece of eight is associated with pirates for a very good reason. At its time, the piece of eight, or the Spanish dollar, was widely accepted the world over. Essentially, you could spend it almost anywhere, making it one of the world's first global currencies!
