The Changing Role of the SBC: Case Studies

Tuesday, March 3, 2015
TIME: 2:00pm ET/ 11:00am ET

Session Border Controllers (SBCs) have evolved markedly over the past few years. Where once the only role was that of firewall traversal, today SBCs are a required component of any SIP installation for that plus interoperability, security, remote worker connectivity, routing, quality of service and much more.

SBCs also enable “any-to-any” interoperability with SIP trunking, allowing any ITSP to interwork with any PBX.

Learn about the latest SBC technologies and the role they play in deploying enterprise-class applications in this webinar. Case studies of real deployments will be featured.

What attendees will learn:

  • What does an SBC do?
  • What features are available in an SBC?
  • Why is Firewall Traversal so important?
  • How does the SBC manage security?
  • What does a real-world interoperability solution look like?
  • What to look for in an SBC that will futureproof my network?

Who should attend:

  • Systems integrators, resellers and distributors
  • Call center telephony managers
  • Enterprise management staff responsible for communication services
  • Enterprise technical staff supporting VoIP networks
  • Service provider network operations, product management and services marketing staff
  • Telecommunications Equipment Manufacturers looking to enhance their product offerings
  • Marketing and operations managers for hosted service providers

In addition to the current use of SBCs, Session Border Controllers are deployed at locations that make them ideal candidates to also include the functionality to create interoperability between SIP and WebRTC, for example. Adding quality, reliability and diagnostics to WebRTC delivers desktop audio/video that is truly peer-to-peer and enterprise class.
