A fresh headwind of worries about a potential departure of Greece from the E.U.,along with the likelihood of some other southern European members taking the same road has caused a fresh round of buying in the metals, softening the losses from last Friday's sell off..... Silver is up 41 cents to $17.06.....Gold is up $7.00 and trading at $1242.00.....Palladium sits at $787.00 up $2.00.....Platinum remains unchanged at $1225.00..... With the exception of China, most of the economic calendars are quiet today....China did report some weaker than expected data, which validates its recent cut in interest rates..... In currencies; the Euro versus the Dollar is flat today....Last against the Euro $1.1314...............Meanwhile the price of Oil seems to be creeping higher for technical as well as Middle East and Russian anxiety reasons.....Last on Crude, $52.29, up 60 cents per barrel.....It took nine months to drop the price of gasoline by about 1.67 per gallon, of late we are already up 13 cents from that low.... In stock market activity; Asia closed mixed as usual.....European stock are lower across the board on a combination of Greek worries, weaker Chinese data, and growing concerns over Russia....The average loss is around 1%................In New York the Dow looks to open 57 points lower, adding on to last Friday's decline of 61..... In a weak attempt at humor; we hear that news anchor Brian Williams is suing Al Gore over who invented the internet.....LOL.....That's it....Have a good morning...... |
