If OPEC is rightand by extension, traders are wronglook for the pressure to increase on the countries that rely on oil exports to support their government spending. Russias Vladimir Putin, for example, has maintained his game face throughout the period of low oil prices and Western economic sanctions. Its an emotionless expression that may be rooted in confidence that sooner or later, the West will relent on its financial penalties and the oil price will go back up. Four years from now, OPEC says it will be producing just 28.7 barrels a day, less than it currently does. Yet, all is not lost. By 2040, the report says, demand for OPEC crude will have spiked back up and reached about 40 barrels a day. But for OPEC, the real battle is how to get there in one piece. 3. Iraq has come undone The US Navy has already been conducting freedom of navigation operations for decades. Many of the things we typically think drive company performance are better understood as the result of company performance, Rosenzweig says. When a company is doing well, observers naturally assume that it must have a host of positive qualities: good strategy, a visionary leader, a vibrant culture, and so on. But when that same company suffers a decline, observers are quick to conclude that, actually, the strategy was all wrong and its employees had become complacent. What is a freedom of navigation operation? Unfortunately, the just-diagnosed South Korean man had done a lot of traveling before he was diagnosed, and come into contact with a lot of other travelers. It seems that he had contracted the virus from his father in Seoul on May 16. When his flight from Seoul landed in Hong Kong on Tuesday, airport medical officers say he was already coughing and feverish (he denied having contact with any MERS patients or having visited any hospitals with MERS patients, which is apparently why the medical authorities let him go). Can I make a suggestion? How about we not compare anything to slavery? How about we not compare it to Obamacare. How about we not compare it to the Holocaust. How about we not compare it to minimum wage, How about we not compare it to an unpaid internship. Most importantly, how about we not compare it to happier or simpler times. |
