"Woefully Unprepared"

All gold everything.

All gold (stars) everything
The fallout from Trump's attacks on the family of Army Capt. Humayun Khan continues. This morning, in a joint press conference with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, President Obama called Trump "woefully unprepared" for the presidency. No word yet on whether Chris Christie has been tasked with getting Trump ice for that burn. President Obama's most recent comments come as an ever-growing list of Republicans are defending the Khan family against Trump. Some noteworthy responses: Nikki Haley, Rudy Giuliani, Reince Priebus, Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, Marco Rubio, Sens. Chuck Grassley, Pat Toomey, Roy Blunt, Ron Johnson, and Rob Portman. But so far none of this condemnation has caused anyone to revoke an endorsement.
Some good news. Since the Khans took the stage at the DNC last week, visitors have flocked to Army Capt. Humayun Khan's grave at Arlington National Cemetery to pay their respects to the fallen hero. And on The Today Show Khan's father said he has been amazed by the support their family has received. "My belief in the goodness of America has been reaffirmed," he said.
WHAT'S TRENDING
Best revenge is your paper. And Massachusetts is going to help its female workers make more of it. Massachusetts has just passed the most robust equal pay law in the country—it prohibits employers from asking for salary histories, which usually puts women at a disadvantage. Now, workers in Massachusetts can discuss their salaries without facing retribution. Currently, the average full-time working woman earns 79 cents for every $1 the average full-time working man makes—but black women earn 60 cents, Native American women earn 59 cents, and Latinas earn 55 cents for every $1 a white man makes. It's time for the rest of the country to follow the Commonwealth's lead to help ensure that women everywhere get paid fairly for their work.
Recess. Yesterday, the CDC issued a travel warning for the Miami neighborhood where the first 14 cases of locally transmitted Zika were discovered earlier this week. This is the first time the CDC has ever issued a warning in the continental U.S. due to an infectious disease. This news comes during Congress' seven-week summer vacation and five months after President Obama requested $1.9 billion in funds to fight Zika. For months, House Republicans dragged their feet on approving the funding and—surprising no one—once House and Senate Republicans agreed on funding, the package contained so many partisan provisions Democrats couldn't get on board. Late last week, a group of congressional Democrats called for Congress to end recess early to pass the bill, but so far it looks like school's still out for summer.
Principal Trump. New York City educators discuss the time Donald Trump played principal at P.S. 70 in the Bronx. He brought a million dollar bill.
#ItsOnYou. That's what Donald Trump thinks of sexual harassment in the workplace. As many as 1 in 3 women have faced sexual harassment in the workplace and Donald Trump thinks they should find another job. When asked what his daughter Ivanka would do if she were sexually harassed at work Trump said he'd "like to think she would find another career or … company if that were the case." Media Matters has the scoop.
Walking dead. Add anthrax spewing zombie deer to the long list of threats of climate change. Rising temperatures that are melting Arctic permafrost in Northern Russia have thawed frozen deer infected with anthrax during World War II. The warmer temperatures have brought the disease back to life and dozens of people have been hospitalized. This is a true story. Also a true story—a majority of Americans are still represented by a climate denier in Congress.
