Practical Nymphing with Ed Engle - Saturday 8:30-11:00 am
This class will introduce beginning and experienced nymphers to the foundation nymphing techniques such as high-stick, tight-line, and long line that are the basis every nymphing style. Learn when to use the various techniques, nymph rigs for each of them, attractor and match-the-natural nymph fly patterns and how to modify the basic nymphing techniques for unique on-the-water situations. He’ll discuss the pros and cons of floating strike indicators, sighter-style strike detection and other ways to detect strikes. Ed will talk about regional differences in nymphing styles. He’ll also discuss the importance of simplifying your nymphing. There will be a “hands-on” break to demonstrate useful knots and rigs for nymph fishers. Both novice and experienced nymph fishermen with come away from the class with a clearer vision of nymphing techniques and principles and how to apply those principles to their home waters. Creative Tying with Foam by Kevin Arculeo - Saturday 8:30-11:00 am
Learn different techniques for saltwater & freshwater foam flies. This class will cover types of foam, materials, glues & paints, and tying tools for foam flies; both conventional & creative non-conventional tools. You will learn to use the tools to fabricate existing and new foam body parts. Kevin will then cover creative finishing techniques using luminescent paints and epoxy and the Copic Painting System. Intermediate.
Casting with Joe Humphreys - Saturday 2:00-4:30 pm
Tight brush, tuck cast, slack leader cast, you’ll learn it all from a legendary caster and teacher. Joe is one of the best instructors and has more coaching and teaching experience than any other instructor. All Levels.
Advanced Nymph Fishing with Jason Randall - Saturday 2:00-4:30 pm
Outfish your buddies with new tightline methods such as Czech, Polish and French styles. Learn advanced presentation and rigging for these methods as well as new strategies for strike indicator fishing. Use a systematic approach that lets you decide when and where each method is most effective. Each student will build a custom leader and learn the tuck and oval tuck cast. Bring rod, reel and line. All Levels.
Designing Flies that Trigger Strikes with Blane Chocklett - Saturday 2:00-4:30 pm
Blane has developed certain tying techniques that incorporate steps in his patterns that drive fish to attack the fly. Learn the patterns that have proven to be able to improve your fishing success. Intermediate.
