| Friday, February 10, 2017 | | | Special Trick up Congress' Sleeve (First Four Months of 2017) Until April 17, Congress has something special in store for 119 million eligible Americans. The Wall Street Journal says the program is like a "gift for Christmas." And The New York Times reports it adds up to "a little something for nearly everyone." In short, the law H.R. 2029 gives 119 million taxpaying Americans the right to get a "cash rebate" on nearly every purchase made in 2016. Think of it like the Bush tax refund back in 2004. Remember that? When everyone got checks in the mail for $300 to $600? Many people will collect anywhere from $1,230 up to $12,900. But according to an analysis by Fox Business News, there is "no limit" to the size of your payout in certain situations. The more you spent, the more you'll have the chance to get. Why in the world would the government do something like this? (Besides the fact that it tries all kinds of crazy shenanigans?) According to Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady, the purpose of this law is to "grow our economy and help American taxpayers keep more of their hard-earned dollars." Good investing, Andrew
