Google has expanded its local retail campaign tools to enable marketers to optimize directions and click and call buttons across desktop and mobile, set up local extensions for stores, run flash sales and highlight local offers and last-minute discounts. Retailers will also be able to edit and post promotions without requiring Google approval.

Report: Snapchat app installs surge

Consumers installed the Snapchat app an estimated 28.5 million during August, which marks 29% year-over-year growth and the highest month for first-time downloads since 41.2 million new installs in May 2019, according to Sensor Tower. The intelligence firm could not determine the specific driving factors but noted other TikTok rivals such as Byte, Dubsmash, Triller and Likee also have seen sizable active US user increases.

Twitter study touts virtues of various video ad formats

Brands that want to maximize Twitter video campaign responses should consider the premium First View video promotion option, then augment it with the Amplify and Promoted Twitter video formats, research from MAGNA Global and IPG Media Lab shows. First View was found to be the best choice for brand awareness, recall and purchase intent, but the other formats also fared well in terms of recall.

Measurement Matters
A Socialinsider infographic examines findings from a study of more than 250,000 Facebook ads and notes the primary Facebook campaign objective is conversion, followed respectively by post engagement and link clicks. The study also found click-thru rates jumped to 3.41% in June but have been declining and the average video ad spend is $157.15 with video ad CPC at $0.55.
