Dear , Last week the St. Louis metro region was hit with torrential storms that caused massive flooding and damage to many of our local communities. My team and I worked with Lt. Governor Kehoe and federal officials to ensure Missouri was eligible for disaster support, and responded to many constituents who contacted us for help in a time of crisis. If you or someone you know needs assistance, you can call my Ballwin office at 636-779-5449 or visit my website here. It was confirmed last week that Joe Biden and his tax and spend policies have thrown the U.S. into a recession, costing Missouri families more at the pump and the grocery store. It is utterly shocking that, during an economic crisis, Democrats insist on spending over a quarter trillion more of your taxpayer dollars. The CHIPS Act will not effectively address China’s attempts to control the semiconductor industry, and in fact, contains insufficient guardrails to prevent funds from supporting the expansion of manufacturing in China. The semiconductor industry is vital to both our national security and our day to day lives, and when Republicans have the majority in Congress, we will make it a priority to address China’s malign global influence and support American semiconductor manufacturing in a much more targeted and cost-effective manner. I spoke on the House Floor in support of legislation to posthumously award the Congressional Gold Medal to four American heroes who died in Benghazi on September 11, 2012. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, Navy SEALs Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods, and Staff Sergeant Sean Smith served honorably and died in service to our country. These four brave men lived exceptionally impressive lives that we recognize today, and they more than earned this honor. Watch my full speech here. I represent the largest Bosnian community outside of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and my constituents are deeply worried about the crisis back home. Cynical and dangerous politicians are seeking to exploit upcoming general elections to deepen divisions, while Milorad Dodik escalates his reckless and illegal secessionist agenda with the backing of the Putin regime. The United States desperately needs a strong, usable economic stick to navigate an extremely volatile situation over the next few months. But the time to act is now. Last week the House Foreign Affairs Committee passed my legislation that codifies and mandates key sanctions to address the political crisis and corruption in Bosnia. Ahead of the October elections, the Upholding the Dayton Peace Agreement Through Sanctions Act will send a badly-needed deterrent signal to bad actors—both internal and external—that seek to destabilize Bosnia. The U.S. will impose severe consequences for threatening Bosnia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and multi-ethnic character. I am grateful the Committee passed my legislation, and I hope the whole House will be able to vote on it as soon as possible. Click here for more information on the bill. As Vice Ranking Member of the House Financial Services Committee, I make it a considerable priority to ensure government agencies in the Financial Services realm work for the people. My Risk-Based Credit Examination Act will help consumers at an incredibly volatile economic time and will reduce the costly burdens placed on smaller credit rating agencies by Dodd-Frank. I am proud to report my legislation passed the House last week, and now we look to the Senate to take immediate action so a more competitive marketplace can flourish under a more efficient and effective set of financial regulations.
