You've probably heard that having "good ears" is good for playing jazz.
And guess what?
It's true.
That's because when it comes to improvisation the secret sauce is getting what you hear in your head to come together with muscle memory on your instrument.
So the better of ears you have, the easier it will be to make natural and immediate decisions on your instrument.
That's why ear training can be really helpful .
But when most people thing of ear training, they think of intervals and chords.
Those are all great fundamentals to work on, but are they the best ear training for jazz?
