A Message from Ann

A message from Congresswoman Ann Wagner

Dear ,

As Chair of the Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets, promoting greater capital formation and easier access to capital for entrepreneurs has been a major priority of mine.  I am proud to announce the Financial Services Committee passed two of my bills that will help businesses grow and address our many concerns about the SEC’s onerous rulemaking processes.  The first bill, the Encouraging Public Offerings Act, ensures that all companies – rather than just emerging growth companies – are allowed to ‘test the waters’.  This bill will make listing on exchanges more attractive, strengthening our financial markets and providing main street investors more opportunities to grow their nest egg.   The second, the Small Entity Update Act, will address longstanding concerns that numerous SEC rules do not appropriately balance the SEC’s mandates to protect investors and facilitate capital formation.  Read more on my important legislation here.

I voted in favor of the Limit, Save, Grow Act, important legislation that will put us on a responsible path to fixing our national debt and get Joe Biden’s reckless spending under control.  This legislation will help grow our economy and increase American energy production, all while reducing regulatory burdens that are holding back American families and businesses.  I encourage the Senate to swiftly take up this legislation so our nation’s economy is not put at risk by their inaction.

Last week the House passed my resolution that honors the 75th anniversary of Israel’s statehood. Israel is one of our strongest allies and closest friends. The bipartisan passage of this resolution reaffirms our commitment to the people of Israel and makes a strong statement we stand united against anti-Semitism. We also urge other nations to normalize relations with Israel and ensure existing agreements continue to provide necessary economic and national security for those in the area.

The Jewish Light highlighted my resolution in an article here and I also spoke on the House Floor urging my colleagues to support the resolution.  You can watch my full speech here.

As Co-Chair of the Abraham Accords Caucus, I have worked with my colleagues to build on the successes of the Abraham Accords and promote stability in the Middle East.  I am proud to co-lead the MARITIME Act, legislation that demonstrates the United States and other Abraham Accords countries are committed to safeguarding freedom of navigation in a critically important region.  The MARITIME Act will help the United States and its Middle East partners work together to counter sea-based threats from erratic actors like Iran, transnational criminals, and terrorist extremists.  As Iran continues to flout restrictions on its nuclear program and fund terrorist proxies around the region, closer security cooperation between Abraham Accords countries must remain a top U.S. priority.  Read my full press release on this legislation here.

Last week, Congress heard from South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol during a Joint Session of Congress.  As Co-Chair of the ASEAN Caucus, I understand his unique perspective on challenges in the region, and I appreciated his insight.  We must do all that we can to counter China and North Korea while we stand with our allies.

The Foreign Affairs Committee held a markup on border security legislation.  I serve as Vice Chair of the Committee, and I know how important it is that the Administration negotiates with foreign governments to keep illegal immigrants out of our nation.  We must also ensure asylum seekers take refuge in the closest safe country they arrive to, not allow them to bypass safety just to come to the United States.

My office continues to provide constituent services to those who need our help.  Whether it is a Medicare issue, a problem with the VA or the IRS, or even getting a passport expedited, we can help.  Call us at our district offices at 636-779-5449 or 636-231-1001 or visit our website here.

Sincerely,

Ann Wagner
Member of Congress
