| In this series, we will share population-related information in a simple format in which members and supporters can find more detailed information by clicking the links provided. The purpose of this series is to share population-related information, by state, to members, as a way to learn more about population issues in different states, nationwide – while considering the big picture: the U.S. has too many people! In the Articles section, members will find recently published works discussing population-related issues, such as water health, climate change, infrastructure, natural resources, and conservation. NPG believes by working to slow, halt, and eventually reverse population growth the U.S. will be able to preserve this country for future generations.
The 2020 census revealed that the state of Alabama grew by 244,543 people between 2010 and 2020, an increase of 5.1%. By July 1, 2022, the population was 5,074,296. With a large population and the challenges that come with that, Alabama will face substantial obstacles in the coming years, with water pollution and the extinction of local endangered species weighing heavily on the state’s future outlook. Concerns about regional classroom size in the future have recently surfaced in the news, as well. |
