One of the best ways to improve your jazz playing is by studying the blues.
The blues is a pillar of jazz and a huge part of the music.
While the blues in it's simplest form focuses on the I7-IV7-V7 chords, a jazz blues expands the harmony a bit by adding some extras.
So when you get great at playing a jazz blues you are at the same time getting great at playing some of the most common chord progressions found in jazz.
And you only need to focus on 12 bars of music!
Sounds like a pretty good use of your practice time, right?
But what jazz tunes should you learn if you want to play at jazz jam sessions or maybe even some gigs?
We created a list for you of the top 28. Pick a few of these and focus in on them!
By the way, if you're ready to start speeding up your progress as a jazz player, without spending long hours in the practice room, sign up for our LJS Inner Circle membership.
