October Jazz Publishing News New Releases from Quincy Jones, Ella Fitzgerald, and the Glenn Miller Orchestra ------------------------------------------------------------- New 25th Anniversary Editions of Essentially Ellington Classics ------------------------------------------------------------- More from Across the Jazz Publishing World We have to admit that yes, summer is over. Fall means delving deeply into the new school year while beginning to think about holiday planning...and we have lots to discuss in these areas. October New Arrangements pages start with one from the early career of Quincy Jones, Stockholm Sweetnin'. It's unlikely that anyone could have guessed just how monumental a career Jones would go on to have upon the release of his 1957 full-length debut as a leader, This Is How I Feel About Jazz, but the musical content of this recording is just as high in quality as any of the heights he would reach over the next several decades. Stockholm Sweetnin' is a wonderful example of just how mature Jones already was as a composer and musical visionary. We are also pleased to present another one from Ella Fitzgerald, Night and Day, as arranged by Buddy Bregman for Ella's Cole Porter Song Book album. From the same album we also published Ridin' High.  We have four more new PDF versions of Jazz at Lincoln Center Essentially Ellington charts as well: Potato Head Blues, Pyramid, Sunset & the Mockingbird, and Tight Like This. Hal Leonard just released their best batch of new arrangements in a while, led off by Mark Taylor's vocal arrangement of Cheek to Cheek; in the key of A flat, this swinging chart also has a marvelous feature section for the full ensemble. Paul Murtha has written a new chart in the ultra-popular Little Big Band Series, a medium easy six horn version of Oye Como Va. Also new is Ronnie Cuber's combo chart of Gerry Mulligan's Walkin' Shoes, with very flexible instrumentation. Two more from Michele Fernández include her original Tu Valor as well as an upbeat version of Paul Simon's hit You Can Call Me Al.
