The Bost Bulletin

Dear Friend,

Yesterday morning, during the holiday of Simchat Torah, Hamas terrorists infiltrated Israel in an unprecedented and barbaric attack against innocent civilians, killing at least 600 and injuring thousands more. These acts of violence are being met with immediate action from Israel. I stand with our greatest ally in the Middle East in defense of our shared values and will support whatever efforts are deemed necessary to help them defend their people against the forces of terror.

Selecting a New Speaker

House Republicans reconvene in Washington tomorrow evening to begin the process of selecting a new speaker. Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) and Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) are vying for the position. Regardless which candidate earns the position, we will have a solid conservative leading the House who will continue to advance a commonsense, conservative agenda for the American people. I look forward to hearing from both leaders and will make my decision on who to support after that.

Calling Out Biden's Border Wall Hypocrisy

For years Joe Biden has ignored the crisis at our southern border, saying “not another foot” of the border wall would be built. He even started selling off border wall materials for scrap rather than using it to finish the job. Well, after Biden spent months denying the crisis and the liberals crowed about how safe the border was on Biden’s watch, now he’s changing his tune. He wants to build more wall. Looks like President Trump was right all along. You can learn more by clicking here.

Celebrating National Manufacturing Day

Friday was National Manufacturing Day. I kicked off the morning with the Illinois Manufacturers' Association and the Illinois Manufacturing Excellence Center at the Boeing facility in Mascoutah. It’s great to see that 300 more jobs will be added to the community at this brand-new site where the revolutionary unmanned refueling aircraft, the MQ-25 Stingray, will be built. This is an exciting time for St. Clair County and for Boeing.

Meeting the Commander of the 932nd Airlift Wing

I also met with Col. Jeffrey Smith, the new Commander of the 932nd Airlift Wing at Scott Air Force Base, as well as Col. Rick Chadwick and Maj. Neil Samson. It was great to connect with these leaders and discuss how we can continue working together to support our servicemembers stationed here in Southern Illinois.

Discussing Rail and Supply Chain in Albers

Mayor Steve Shoemaker, State Rep. Charlie Meier and I met with stakeholders in Albers last week to discuss ways to improve the railroads in our area. We had a constructive conversation and it was a pleasure to sit down at the table with everyone to see how we can keep working together to ensure safe railroad shipments continue to reinforce our supply chain.

Celebrating New Bottling Plant for 17th Street BBQ in Murphysboro

It was great to celebrate an institution in my hometown of Murphysboro last week during the ribbon cutting of 17th Street BBQ’s new bottling plant. 17th Street BBQ helped put our city on the map for BBQ, and the expansion of their operations only means good things for the local economy and jobs.
