Hi, my name’s Becky and I work on Save the Children’s email team. My team helps to keep supporters like you updated on our work. But today, I’m taking a moment to share a bit of my own story with you and why I’m so proud to work for this organization.
I was born and raised in a small, rural town near the U.S.-Mexico border, where I first learned about Save the Children through my family’s church. I didn’t understand that we lacked the resources a lot of kids grow up with until my family moved to a bigger city when I was in middle school. Until that point, I’d always been a good student, but I quickly fell behind because the education in my small community had not prepared me for my new school.
My own experience taught me the devastating effect of not having a quality education and how important it is to support kids from an early age to set them up for success later on. That’s why I’m particularly passionate about Save the Children’s early childhood development and education programs in rural America and across the world.
I’m proud to be part of a team that takes action against global hunger, ensures children have a quality education and increases access to health care – and as a supporter, you’re part of this team too. Together, we’re contributing to changes that have far-reaching effects on children, communities and society as a whole. As we approach the season of giving and generosity, I hope you will continue to support this important work.
