News from the Library of Congress Celebrate Black History Month at Live! at the Library, New Educational Book Series, Open Search for Next Innovator in Residence and More Live! at the Library to Celebrate Black History Month, Valentine's Day in February Get into the Valentine's Day spirit with bestselling author Rebecca Ross for a book talk and signing during Live! at the Library in February. Enjoy sweet treats, cocktails, a make-your-own Valentine's Day cards station, and explore love letters in the Library's collections. Plus, celebrate Black History Month throughout February with special performances from the Library's American Folklife Center and Concerts from the Library of Congress spring lineup. Also, award-winning historian Kerri Greenidge comes to the Library to discuss the long struggle for racial and gender equality. Learn more. Library of Congress and American Library Association Announce New Educational Book Series The Library will co-publish a new educational series titled "Discover and Learn with the Library of Congress" in association with ALA Editions, the book publishing arm of the American Library Association. Library Awards More than $160,000 to Artists, Scholars to Remix Digital Collections The Library announced two awards totaling more than $160,000 have been awarded from the Connecting Communities Digital Initiative through a program available to artists and scholars. The program is part of the Library's Of the People: Widening the Path initiative. The 2024 awardees, Maya Freelon and Allie Martin, will use these funds to produce projects that artistically and creatively remix and reuse the Library's digital collections. Learn more. Library Opens Search for Next Innovator in Residence The Library of Congress is looking for its next Innovator in Residence. Through March 5, the Library invites technologists, artists and other creative visionaries to propose imaginative proofs of concept designed to help the public connect with digital Library materials.  The 2024-2025 Library of Congress Innovator in Residence will work with the Library's Digital Innovation Division (LC Labs) to bring their proposal to life and help the Library explore new ways to connect its collections and services with all Americans.  Learn more. Library Expands 2024 Literacy Awards Program The Library of Congress announced it is expanding the scope of the Literacy Awards Program in 2024 by adding two new award categories to recognize literacy organizations in the United States and abroad. Applications are being accepted from Jan. 8 to Feb.19.
