1️⃣ Minnesota: New legislation provides universal free meals at public schools In Minnesota, a bill providing no-cost breakfast and lunch to students finally went into effect. Since its rollout, schools have been able to provide over a million more meals this month alone. → 2️⃣ Oklahoma: A state Republican proposes extreme anti-abortion constitutional amendment In Oklahoma, a GOP lawmaker wants voters to enshrine into the state constitution that life begins at conception. This marks another shameless Republican attempt to endanger lives, attack reproductive freedom, and limit access to abortion → 3️⃣ New Mexico: Democrats work to secure paid family leave In New Mexico, Democrats are working to pass Paid Family and Medical Leave with a new bill that will be introduced in this upcoming session. If passed, the new iteration of this bill would also provide coverage for LGBTQ+ caretakers, extend leave for military families, provide leave to sexual assault victims to attend counseling, and so much more → 4️⃣ North Carolina: A Republican candidate with alleged neo-Nazi connections is on the state legislative ballot In North Carolina, the Board of Elections unanimously ruled that a candidate with neo-Nazi and white supremacy ties could stay on the ballot.
