GROWING GOOD DADS

BABY SKILLS

ENCOURAGING ENGAGED FATHERHOOD IN AVA, MO

We visited Ava, a community of about 3,000 an hour southeast of Springfield, to speak to leaders about how Good Dads can support the community's fathers. With close to 20 folks in attendance from health groups, the sheriff's office, faith groups and the County Assessor's office, this engaged group learned about Good Dads and asked lots of great questions.

Ava is most excited about bringing the New Pathways and Strong Schools programs to their community. Thanks to Kayla Premer with DSS and Shawn Vanderbeck, Good Dads Facilitator, for their help in organizing this meeting, and to the folks at Crosspoint Church for hosting us!

TRIVIA

This month, our focus is on child development milestones and parenting newborns and infants. Put your baby knowledge to the test in this trivia question about sleep.

Which is the following statements about newborns is FALSE?
Newborns generally sleep 12-16 hours in a 24-hour period.
At about 6 weeks old, your infant should sleep through the night.
To reduce the risk of SIDS, put Baby to sleep on her back.

We will share the results in next week's newsletter!
