Plus, the White House passed the misnamed Inflation Reduction Act in late 2022, allotting nearly $1 trillion toward Green New Deal spending, earmarking money for electric vehicle rebates, solar panel incentives and offshore wind projects. More recently, approvals for new liquid natural gas (LNG) export facilities were put on hold, continuing a policy favoring investment in so-called renewable energy while applying scrutiny to fossil fuel expansion.
