Your Signature is Needed: Stop greedy cruise companies from destroying the Arctic

A polar bear may soon die from MALNUTRITION and STARVATION. Her cubs will be left behind to fend for themselves, likely to meet the same fate. Sign the petition now!

This tragic scene is far from unlikely, Friend. Traditional polar bear hunting grounds in the frozen Arctic are RAPIDLY MELTING, and with nowhere to hunt, there's nothing to eat. The Arctic is warming FOUR TIMES as fast as the rest of the planet. Now, only about 900 Southern Beaufort polar bears remain. They could DISAPPEAR FOREVER!

Dumped toxic wastewater and ice-melting greenhouse gas emissions from massive cruise ships in the Arctic are a big part of the problem. The corporations that sail these ships care more about their profits than the fragile marine and Arctic habitats they are damaging.

As Arctic wildlife and ocean resources are depleted, the way of life for Arctic Indigenous communities is endangered too. These communities rely on hunting, fishing, and clean air and water – but corporate cruise ships put it all at risk with pollution and climate-warming emissions! Please, Friend, demand the EPA rein in greedy cruise companies that are hurting Arctic communities and wildlife!

As titanic vessels charge into Arctic waters, corporate executives rake in the profits. The worst offender--Carnival Corporation--hauled 11,000 tons of heavy fuel through fragile Arctic habitats in its massive cruise ships in just one year. And these companies dump toxins and waste along the way!

Chemicals dumped from cruise ships seep into the food chain. The pollutants can be taken up in the soil, in seagrass, in fish, and accumulate all the way to the top of the food chain – affecting people who eat fish from the ocean!

Here's the bottom line, Friend – the Arctic is melting at an ALARMING rate. We need to be protecting the Arctic, not lining cruise industry pockets. That's why we need your help. Will you ask the EPA to stand up to greedy cruise companies, help save Arctic ecosystems and wildlife, and support Indigenous communities?

Standing with you,
Marcie Keever
Oceans and vessels program director,
Friends of the Earth
