In which I (mostly) debunk the latest Fallout controversy that claims Todd Howard used the Fallout show to 'retcon' non-Bethesda Fallout games
(Bethesda)
Some Fallout fans are seriously unhappy with the show. It's not due to the acting or humor or cinematography, but because of something Fallout has had issues with in the past: lore problems. Remember the kerfuffle over the Brotherhood of Steel being in Fallout 76 when the timeline didn't really make sense? It's like that, only worse.

Helldivers 2 player infects a Super Earth news broadcast with an Automaton diss track—and it can actually be translated into English, thanks to advancements in R&D
(Arrowhead)
As if to add insult to injury, a fan-made edit of the game's Super Earth news broadcasts shows Automaton hackers tearing into your mandatory news briefings to drop the hottest diss track of the century. I mean, uh, some treasonous nonsense.

Broken Roads
(Drop Bear Bytes)
I like a lot about Broken Roads. I like its style. I like its tone. I like its attempt to do something different with morality in RPGs. It's clearly a game made with vision and affection, and aspires to be more than a Fallout knockoff.

In Case You Missed It
PUBG has dramatically transformed over the years, swapping grittiness for cartoon outfits, but it's still as ruthless and chaotic as ever
(Krafton)
While the PUBG Guy, the game's unofficial mascot, remains part of the cover art—complete with a button-up shirt and Spetznaz helmet—he is one of the few relics of an older era. Where once the servers were full of characters that looked like him, it's now full of people wearing skins that wouldn't look out of place in Fortnite.

Finally, Something Funny
Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom delivers imaginative 3D platforming without a jump button
(Panik Arcade)
I'm falling to my death again and I'm completely OK with it. It's hard not to smile while playing Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom, Italian micro-indie outfit Panik Arcade's debut game. This automotive collectathon platformer is bright, loud and constantly riding a fine line between genius and idiocy, starting with its core concept: What if a platformer didn't have a jump button?
