Morning all, Although the pandemic may seem like an age ago there are always things that bring me back to that time. I've just started season two of the Morning Show - great show so far-and it's bringing back feverish nightmares of masks and scrabbling for answers over how the virus spread. This week another issue brought me back. AstraZenica announced it has withdrawn its Covid-19 vaccine from the market, months after a legal claim was launched over some side-effects of the jab. Is the AZ announcement anything to worry about? |
AstraZenica has maintained its decision to withdraw its vaccine is not related to a legal claim over reports the jab caused vaccine-induced thrombocytopenia and thrombosis which is a blood clotting problem. For now experts and scientists are unperturbed about the decision, noting the global demand for Covid vaccines is now much lower and the general ineffectiveness of the jab on new variants. The AZ-Oxford vaccine has not been updated since the original Wuhan variant and so is less effective on the new variants of Covid which have since been circulating. This vaccine which differs from the mRNA types from Pfizer is harder to update. One professor Adam Finn, who also sits on the government's Joint Committee on Immunisation and Vaccination said: "Although there were cases of TTS caused by this vaccine and the ADV-vector COVID19 vaccine made by Johnson and Johnson (Janssen), including deaths, the main current issue related to that problem is that we need to understand more fully the mechanism by which it occurred in order to avoid any risk of something similar happening with other vaccines in the future." While it is important to explore the issues around consent the and impact on those who suffered side effects it important to do this in the context of data showing the Oxford/AZ and other Covid vaccine from Pfizer-BioNTech may have prevented millions of premature deaths. Vegan diet and the cave man |
A new study has debunked the general meal plan behind the Paleo diet, with findings suggesting that some Stone Age people ate a mostly vegan diet. According to the Harvard School of Public Health, the Paleo diet was adapted to mimic the nutritional plan adopted until 2000 BC. "The Paleo diet, also referred to as the caveman or Stone-Age diet, includes lean meats, fish, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds," the University explains. "Proponents of the diet emphasise choosing low-glycemic fruits and vegetables." Read the full article here. |
