A Message From Ann

A message from Congresswoman Ann Wagner

Dear Friend,

It was great meeting with Police Chief Wilkey and City Administrator Bob Shelton at the Town and Country City Hall, where we discussed the importance of supporting law enforcement in our community and ensuring that our brave officers have the resources they need to keep us safe. I’ve been proud to lead multiple pieces of legislation that help investigators locate and prosecute violent criminals as well as provide support to the most vulnerable survivors in our society.

My legislation, the Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act, would ensure victim support organizations such as child advocacy centers, domestic violence shelters, and rape crisis centers have the resources they need to continue providing life-saving services to the victims of these heinous crimes. I was so thankful to have the Missouri Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence in Washington DC as we work together to advocate for this bill’s passage.

Since the temporary closure of the Town and Country Post Office last week, my office has remained in constant contact with the United States Postal Service to ensure operations return to normal as soon as possible. I am happy to report that the Town and Country Post Office has reopened and is fully operational.

You can always feel free to reach out to my office at 636-779-5449 if you have questions about this matter, and in case you missed it, you can watch my interview with KSDK about this situation here.

Thank you to the St. Louis Agribusiness Club and Warren Stemme for hosting such a great event. I had an amazing time talking with hardworking Missourians about agriculture, conservation, and the issues facing family farms across the 2nd Congressional District.

Always happy to see my friend, Mayor Joe Garritano, to talk about how we can work together to expand business opportunities in Wildwood as well as support the cherished local parks and greenspace in the area.

The St. Louis region is home to the largest Bosnian population outside of Europe, and I am extremely pleased to report that the Treasury Department followed the lead of my Dayton Peace Agreement legislation and imposed further sanctions on individuals who are supporting Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik’s corrupt regime. I have long advocated for sanctions on Dodik and his associates who seek to destabilize Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to consolidate their own personal power at the expense of the innocent.

You can read more about these sanctions here.

I had an informative meeting with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Regional Administrator Meg McCollister. Securing the Record of Decision for the West Lake Landfill in 2018 was a monumental development, but more can and must be done to ensure the Landfill is properly contained and remediated. We also discussed the importance of ensuring the reliability of Missouri’s energy grid and keeping utility costs down for consumers. I relayed my strong concerns about the EPA’s new regulations on power plants and its effects on energy providers in our region and throughout the country.

State Senator Ben Brown and I both represent the people of Franklin County, Warren County, and West St. Louis County. Whether in DC or Jefferson City, we work together to protect the rights of Missourians and get results for our community. Sen. Brown and I are proud to serve you.

Last Wednesday was Juneteenth, a day in which we take time to commemorate the end of slavery in America and celebrate freedom in our great country.

Sincerely,

Ann Wagner
Member of Congress
