Lewis, the National Democratic Redistricting Committee is no stranger to playing the long game. This work is hard, and victories won't happen overnight — but they will happen. Not convinced? Look no further than my home state of Michigan: We fought for years to reform the redistricting process there — and with your support, we won a fairer map that is already leading to a more representative state legislature. Late last month, the state Senate moved to advance SB 401, also known as the Michigan Voting Rights Act, despite GOP opposition. If passed, this bill would help secure access to the ballot box by creating new protections for voters who've historically been discriminated against. It comes down to this: When Democrats are in power in state legislatures, they advance legislation to defend voting rights and defend our democracy — even as Republicans try to stop them.
Thank you, Brianna
