Have you ever wondered about diminished scales - like how to play them, or most importantly, how to use them in your jazz improv?
Take a look at this one:
This is the "half-whole" diminished scale - one of the two diminished scales in existence.
Honestly, they sound kind of weird and I've certainly wondered in the past if they were even useful for improvisation.
Well, as with all scales, they are just one tool in your toolkit that you can use for improvising.
And the interesting thing is while the most obvious use of the diminished scales are over diminished chords, you can actually use these scales over other kinds of chords entirely.
So if you've ever wondered how to improvise over diminished chords or how to use the scales, I've got you covered!
We recently published a free lesson that goes over all things diminished scales and how to put them to use.
BTW, if you're interested in improving your jazz playing every single month, I'd recommend checking out ourLearn Jazz Standards Inner Circle.
We learn new jazz standards every single month, and you get access to all of our jazz courses, including our Zero to Improv jazz theory course which covers things like scales in full detail.
If that sounds helpful to you, we'd love to have you come join us!
