Your Daughter's First Period: Tips for Dads from a Mother of Five
Good Dads got insights from with Patricia Howell, the Assistant Director for South Regional Clinics at Jordan Valley Community Health Center. She gave some tips for dads, including proper communication to alleviate feelings of shame.
“The most important thing you can give your child is open communication. Even if we make every effort to remove shame (about periods), there are things outside of our control as parents.”

Join us this week for a podcast from the Good Dads archive! Dr. Jennifer Baker and J Fotsch join Alex Green and Michael Vaughn, two dads of teenage girls.
Michael Vaughn is familiar with the challenges and joys that come with being a father to teenage girls, and a concept that he says is important to teach is failure.
"One of the key things when they have a failure or setback, they need to know that doesn't affect their status with you. They're still loved and still accepted."
We're looking for dads who are interested in joining us for New Pathways classes via Zoom! These dads would still need to participate in our regular enrollment process, but would be a perfect opportunity for dads who can't make it in person.
RESTORATION OF HOPE CLASS COMPLETIONS
Last week, eight dads reached the end of the 16-week Good Dads 2.0 course at Restoration of Hope! During the course, dads learned how to have better communication skills, how to increase bonds with their children, and how to create a stable foundation for their families.
