| 🌀 Ninety-two people remain unaccounted for following the "catastrophic disaster" of Hurricane Helene, North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper said Tuesday. The storm has claimed 95 lives in the state so far, according to officials, and the overall death toll across the Southeast has surpassed 230. 🗳️ A Georgia judge blocked the controversial hand count rule that was passed by the state's Republican-led State Election Board from going into effect, finding that the timing of the rule being passed just six weeks before Election Day is "quite wrong." 📜 The Pentagon on Tuesday granted honorable discharges to more than 800 veterans who were separated from the U.S. military because of their sexual orientation during the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, which was in effect from February 1994 to September 2011. ☕ Starbucks recently announced some changes to the business, switching up its strategy -- including perks and discounts -- in hopes of repositioning itself as a premium brand, according to the Seattle-based coffee company's new CEO Brian Niccol. 🎢 Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, one of Walt Disney World's beloved attractions in Magic Kingdom Park, will temporarily close for refurbishment starting in January 2025. 🐼 Two giant pandas from China arrived in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday and were transferred to their new home at the Smithsonian's National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute. | |
