Celebrate the opening of Narrative Wisdom and African Arts with drinks, free tickets to the exhibition, and a performance by David A. N. Jackson in Sculpture Hall.

Opening program featuring Yacouba Sissoko

Friday, October 18 | 6-7:30 pm | Free

Listen in on a brief overview of Narrative Wisdom and African Arts by exhibition curator Nichole Bridges, the Morton D. May Curator of the Arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas. Then, catch a performance by Yacouba Sissoko and his band SIYA.

Family Sunday—Narrative Wisdom Opening Celebration

Sunday, October 20 | 1-4 pm | Free

Enjoy hands-on art activities and watch a storytelling performance by author Catherine W. Ndegwa that will transport listeners to the heart of Kenya with music and hands-on experiences.

SLAM Underground: CHRONICLE

Friday, October 25 | 7-10 pm | Free

Explore the masterful ways that artists tell a tale through their artworks and the millions of stories told over centuries. The evening will include art making, performances, special guest speakers, music, cocktails, and more!
