Getting To The Top |
Sup, |
Stop what you're doing right now. |
Click this link for Google and type in the name of your business. Search. |
What do you see? I'll tell you what I see: |
|
Top search results. Five-star reviews. Google Maps pins featuring Wilson. |
Getting to that point took a lot of time, energy, and focus. And here's the truth: Reaching the top of the Google mountain doesn't—and can't—happen overnight. |
But that doesn't mean you can't start the journey with a single step right now. |
That step is something we started by switching to Service Scalers at the start of this year. We were with a large marketing agency before that. Never again. |
| Service Scalers is where it's at for lead generation. |
|
We weren't getting the SEO content per month we needed to grow, our LSA was out of wack, and we didn't even own our website URL. |
It took some time, but Service Scalers got us back on track and bigger than ever. We're getting close to our first $3M month ever and a large part of that is the huge SEO pump. |
So get your business back on track and check Service Scalers out now. |
|
|
If you don't have an amazing marketing squad then here's my best advice for gearing up your SEO and getting to the top of Google Search. |
Let's do it. |
|
Optimizing your website attracts high-intent customers. Start your SEO efforts early and partner with an active SEO provider. An effective SEO strategy makes your business accessible to local customers.

The Types of SEO |
| SEO is a long, slow game. |
|
SEO is Search Engine Optimization. It's how you show up on the internet, and it matters beyond just having a good website. |
The way SEO works is you have two different sections: Geo-service and content. Geo-service pages are like 'Toilet Repair Akron' or 'Water Heater Repair Stowe.' |
These are high-intent pages that help you rank higher for local searches. |
Landing pages, basically. |
Like I said: It's not just about having a good website; it's about ensuring your site appears when customers search for your services. |
The goal is to capture the search of those big-spending, high-intent customers who are looking to buy, and now. |
The second? Content pages. These are, essentially, honey pots. Blog posts created and tuned to be picked up by specific Google searches. |
How to fix a clogged toilet? Common plumbing issues in old homes? Why are my pipes sticky? |
They attract broad traffic, build site authority, and improve your Google rankings. |
This also affects your Google My Business ranking, increasing your service area attraction. |
And remember: SEO does affect your map pack. |
It's all connected. But that might also sound like a lot to handle solo. |
Maybe you need a partner. |
|
The Right Partner |
I've talked in the past about how choosing the wrong marketing partner did us some real harm. |
We were on Scorpion for a long time, and it's taken us about a year to undo the damage that did for SEO. |
When you're selecting an SEO partner, the important thing to understand—the big thing that sets them apart—is how many SEO activities will they do a month. |
What are those activities? You should be getting a specific amount of SEO blog pages to help populate content and keep things flowing. |
We were not getting that from our old partner. |
They will tell you that they'll do one SEO activity a month, or two SEO activities a month. |
If you work with someone who's innovating a little bit faster, they might do six to twenty, or fifty a month. |
Trust me: If you're with a bad provider now then you're just not going to be able to keep up. At the same time, doing it alone is a trial in and of itself. |
You wouldn't go it alone in other business avenues. |
If you were having trouble with ServiceTitan then you'd turn to someone like Home Service Engine and past pod guest Danny Peavey. |

|
So don't go it alone in the fight for the top of Google search. |
SEO is not magical or mystical. You could do it on your own if you really wanted to. It's a huge time suck, so I would recommend you probably don't. |
You can do it in-house. It does take a big investment, and it's almost always just cheaper to have it through an agency. |
They'll be able to do things like research keyword volume and find what phrases to attack. |
Us getting to the top? It's a lot of things, but mostly it's all SEO. |
And the benefit of that is we're getting real traffic to the website, and our website for the first time in eight years is driving real leads. |
Don't pay $2,000 a page or $40,000 a month without getting what you need to win. |
Have a great weekend. 👊 |
