Kamala Harris slammed Donald Trump as "unhinged" at a Pennsylvania rally. Why? It was a new tactic — she also showed clips of Trump's recent inflammatory comments. Meanwhile, at Trump's event in the swing state, he bopped to music for 39 minutes. Other election news: Republicans are facing backlash for lawsuits targeting overseas and military voting. And Trump is waging a campaign against real-time fact-checking. Read this story         Israel's prime minister told the U.S. about plans to attack Iran. The details: Benjamin Netanyahu told President Joe Biden that Israel will strike military targets, rather than oil or nuclear sites, in response to Iran's latest attack on Israel. What it means: It would be a more limited retaliation than had been feared. A decades-long shadow war between Iran and Israel has threatened to explode into full-scale war. Read this story         A North Carolina man was arrested over alleged threats to relief workers. The suspect: A 44-year-old man was charged. It followed the spread of misinformation about the Hurricane Helene response on social media — a problem fueled by Trump. In related news: Helene caused an IV fluid shortage, which has forced some hospitals to postpone surgeries. And another storm may be brewing in the Atlantic. Read this story           NASA launched a mission to one of Jupiter's moons. Why? Europa is one of the most intriguing worlds in our solar system. A deep, salty ocean may hide under a crust of ice — and, where there is water, there might be life. The plan: Over 5½ years, the probe will use the gravity of Mars and Earth to slingshot toward Jupiter. It should enter the giant planet's orbit in 2030. Read this story         Kids and teens who get covid are more prone to diabetes, a study found. The data: Children were 50% more likely to be diagnosed with diabetes six months after a coronavirus infection than those infected with other respiratory diseases. The bigger picture: The findings highlight how the coronavirus continues to reveal long-term health consequences — just as we head into another viral season.
