The Bost Bulletin Dear Friend, Last week the nation watched closely as Florida’s Gulf Coast braced for Hurricane Milton, one of the most powerful hurricanes to hit Florida in a century. Fortunately, it appears the storm wasn’t the worst-case scenario that many expected. However, lives were lost and property damage was significant. Our hearts and prayers go out to the people affected as they begin recovery efforts. Remembering the Lives Lost in Israel on October 7, 2023 Last week marked the one year anniversary of one of the most deadly attacks on Israel in their history- October 7th, 2023. Over 1,200 innocent people were murdered at the hands of Hamas and 251 were kidnapped. Of those, 101 STILL remain in Hamas captivity. The United States of America will always stand with Israel and fight for its people to live securely. We must not rest until all of the hostages are brought home. Celebrating our Agricultural Diversity Southern Illinois has one of the most diverse agricultural economies in the region. Production of one crop, however, had been in decline for generations: cotton. I was traveling near the Union/Alexander County line last week and saw a great sight- cotton is making a comeback, and it’s harvest season! I’m proud of the tremendous work our farmers do across the 12th District. Recognizing Breast Cancer Awareness Month October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month- a time to remember those we’ve lost, honor survivors, and support their ongoing fight. I’m proud to be a cosponsor of the SCREENS for Cancer Act, which strengthens the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Detection Program, ensuring more access to life-saving screenings. Early detection saves lives, so make sure you and your loved ones are getting regular screenings. Let’s raise awareness and work together toward a future without breast cancer.
