Dear Friend, Today is Veterans’ Day, and it is important we all take the time to appreciate the sacrifices made by those in our community who answered the call of duty to protect our nation. The brave men and women who have served in our military deserve the utmost respect and gratitude, and I will continue to work with my colleagues in Congress to ensure our veterans receive proper support. As an Army mom and the daughter of a Korean War veteran, I also know how challenging it can be for the families of our service members. The parents, spouses, and children of veterans go through their own unique experiences, and I have been proud to vote in favor of bolstering child care, housing, and employment support for military families. On Friday, I joined my colleagues in introducing a resolution honoring the heroic actions of America’s veterans and their efforts to protect our country and allow freedom to endure. If you or a loved one is a veteran in need of assistance with the VA or Department of Defense, please know you can always contact my office at 636-779-5449 or e-mail me through my website here. My staff and I are happy to help in any way we can. Due to the weakness of the Biden-Harris Administration, we have seen one of our nation’s greatest allies, Israel, attacked repeatedly by Iran and its terrorist proxies, including Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis. Make no mistake, when the United States wavers in its commitment to peace through strength, our adversaries jump at the opportunity to destabilize the world. Missouri’s 2nd Congressional District plays a key role in supporting our allies in the Middle East. Last year, I fought to include $2.6 billion in funding within the National Defense Authorization Act for the production of new F-15 Eagle strike fighters, made right here in Missouri. I was happy to see this investment signed into law, and we are already seeing its effects with the recent announcement that Israel will be purchasing 25 F-15s for $5.2 billion. Missouri’s military industrial base supports thousands of local jobs while also reinforcing our nation’s security. Click here to read more about this agreement. It was great to join the Missouri Chamber of Congress Annual Meeting last week where Drury Hotels was honored with the Champion of Enterprise Award. This yearly honor is given to companies that represent a cornerstone of Missouri’s economy. Congratulations to Tim Drury and the entire Drury Hotels team! The Greater St. Louis Region is home to the largest Bosnian community outside Europe, and I have consistently stood with our community to ensure peace and democracy are protected in Bosnia. I was proud to lead the Upholding the Dayton Peace Agreement Through Sanctions Act, which mandates sanctions on any actor that threatens the security, stability, or territorial integrity of Bosnia. This legislation passed the House of Representatives in March 2024, and I am pleased to announce that, last week, the U.S. Department of Treasury expanded sanctions on a corrupt network directly linked to Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik. Dodik has continuously undermined the rule of law in Bosnia, and these increased sanctions will cut off another source of support for his corrupt and destabilizing activities. You can learn more about these sanctions here. Following the October District Work Period, I look forward to returning to Washington D.C. to work to pass legislation that will help countless victims of domestic violence and child sexual abuse in Missouri and throughout the country. My legislation, the Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act, would directly support domestic violence shelters and child advocacy centers that have tragically seen a massive reduction in resources. This bill uses non-taxpayer dollars to surge funding to these programs by redirecting funds collected from bad actors that defraud government agencies. I am proud to have 185 bipartisan cosponsors supporting this legislation, and I will continue to fight for its passage and for all victims of violent crime. You can read more about this bill here. Sincerely, Ann Wagner Member of Congress |
